Last weekend saw Braidwood’s first portrait exhibition by local artists, writers and sculptors.
The National Theatre was the venue, the organisers were Paris and “Saint” Reg, the couple that brought us the last two Heritage Art Exhibitions.
The exhibition was a first in its style. Names of local creators and local people were placed in a hat, and names were drawn out. The subject was randomly matched with the artist, the subject and artist spent no more than two hours together, and an artwork was created.
Over the two days, Tom Bonin sketched portraits for people. The exhibition was on Saturday and Sunday, and the collections exhibition was held on Sunday.
These exhibits ranged from woodwork tools - especially planes, to tins, to pebbles and rocks.
Once again, the community volunteers made this possible. Any profit stays in Braidwood and goes to the Community Centre coffers.
