Radio's 5th Birthday celebrations

30 Jan, 2008 08:24 AM
On Australia Day the 26th January 2008 Braidwood Community Radio celebrated it's 5th birthday.

Businesses across Braidwood joined in the celebrations by donating prizes to give away to Braidwood Community Radio members and listeners. Record companies also donated latest release CD's and in total the station gave away over 70 prizes on the Saturday and Sunday.

President of Braidwood FM, Rob Davidson, said "Maybe it was because it was our 5th birthday that there was so much interest."

Braidwood Community Radio also celebrated on Australia Day, with the Citizen Of The Year was awarded to Paul Brodie, the Braidwood FM Radio Technician. Rob Davidson said "Paul has put in 5 years of voluntary service to Braidwood FM since the day we began on the 26th January 2003. Without Paul's technical skills Braidwood FM would not have come so far with so few hiccups". Rob added "Paul maintains all of Braidwood FM's equipment both inside the studio and on Mount Gillamatong. He also sources and evaluates new equipment, new software programs, and then installs and maintains them".

Rob says a big thank you to the 40 businesses that supported the station by donating prizes.
