 Redbacks v Dolphins

Redbacks v Dolphins

26 Jun, 2001 01:15 PM
Well, Broulee are never an easy side to beat, and with three of four players out sick, the task was all the more difficult. We began with thirteen players against their fifteen and fought a mighty first half battle.

Some towering defence from the forwards stopped many an opportunity for the Dolphins and even loosened their tongues a little. Some even lost them. Dirk Tooth gained a black eye, but some say he shouldn’t have been up that late. Our token pom Jem, played like a Trojan and supporter-come winger Ben stopped about five tries that I saw. Everybody played their best game yet this season even though the numbers were against us. No one stopped attacking until the every end and we were rewarded with some good tries from the constant pressure we applied to the opposition. One downside of this fact is that Rosey somehow fell over the line but we are looking for whoever gave him the ball. Coach Cairns was very impressed with his team’s performance and we are looking strong for the run up to the finals. Don’t forget Tuesday and Thursday training from here on and any support is welcomed.

Points went to just about everybody, and player’s player went to Jem. Thanks again to our vocal supporters and water runners. You are invaluable to the team. The Rugby Dinner is set for July 7 and all are welcome to attend. For bookings or information call Kylie Waters at the Council.

Your in rugby, Matt the Rat.
