In the final of the pairs championship played at the weekend, up and coming junior, Richard Smith, and English import, Harry Alexander, were victorious over Andrew Moran and John Bunn by 22-19. Richard and Harry raced away to lead 11-0 after only five ends and, for the few brave spectators, the warm wood heater and the lounge looked a better alternative. But Andrew and John staged a good comeback to trail 12-8 on ten ends and, after picking up a seven on the 13th end, hit the lead for the first time. Over the next eight ends, Richard and Harry were more consistent to run out winners 22-19. Five local players have been selected to play for the Central South Coast District in their annual clash with the South Coast District at Malua Bay on Sunday, July 15. Garry Huddleston, Harry Alexander and John Bunn will play in the senior team while Richard Smith and Chris Pearman will represent in the junior squad.
