At the Annual General Meeting of Palerang Financial Services at the Carrington in Bungendore, Mark Roberts was awarded the inaugural Outstanding Community Achiever for 2009.
A surprised Mark, who is the President of Braidwood Junior Soccer Club said "This award was not expected, and I am blown away. I accept it with thanks to the many other volunteers who help with the games each week." said Mark.
Mark Roberts was nominated for his commitment to the 220 or more kids of Braidwood and local areas that play soccer each week for the 16 week season; for his commitment to the sport as a coach, referee and mentor and well as his humility and example of good sportsmanship.
Mark's nomination included; "Mark is a positive force for youth in Braidwood as the organiser of the largest team sport in town. Around 220 kids play soccer each week during the season and Mark diligently runs the club, organising insurances, meetings, team selection, and draws, as well as playing, coaching and refereeing."
"Through his role at the soccer club Mark is a shining role model of fair play and commitment to Braidwood's young people. It would be difficult to imagine what growing up in Braidwood would be like without such a well organised Soccer competition throughout the winter."
