In the National Baking Industry Association Competition in Sydney last week, Braidwood Bakery gained a 1st for Apple Pie and for Sponge Cake baked by Louise Moran, and 1st place in the fruit loaf, meat pie, cup cakes and variety slices made by Reynaldo Enriquez and Robert Falkiner. They also gained a 3rd place for the ciabatta bread.

Two weeks earlier the bakery had taken part in the NSW Food Services Australia Bakery Expo at Darling Harbour, National Bakery Championships, taking out 1st place for its Sweet Fruit Loaf, and 3rd for the wholemeal hightop and sour dough, made by Reynaldo Enriquez and Robert Falkiner.

Manager Andrew Dudley said that Royce Rajapakshe, previously based in Braidwood, who had gone to work in the sister bakery at Goulburn had won at the national competition overall Pastry Class Champion with four 1st places and two second places. In the NSW competition he had gained 6 first places and 2 seconds.

From the results at the NSW competition Braidwood Bakery has been invited to participate in the National Bakefest in Penrith to be held in October.
