Sceptical about results

29 May, 2001 01:38 PM
I read with interest the letter from Tourism Tallaganda which stated that “tourism was seen to be the area with the most potential by both town-based and agricultural businesses when asked about future opportunities.........” in respect to the Economic Development Plan.

Now I was asked to respond for my consultancy business and I did so.

I then asked if I might be permitted to respond for my farming interests as my attitudes, projected benefits, etc would be seen different from that perspective. I was advised that the six respondents for the agricultural interests had already been selected and I was not one of them and so my opinions were not wanted. I am, therefore, a little sceptical at the suggested results.

Now I am not anti-tourism, but I do see it as a somewhat fickle base to build a future on.

It is my opinion that a light industrial base would be a greater enhancement to take advantage of our location en-route to and from Canberra and Batemans Bay. Do others feel the same?
