Over the last week the share sales total has risen to $195,000, an increase of $35,000. Whilst this is still behind our average, most of the sales came in during the last few days. This is a positive response to our article last week. Many people have indicated that they had put their application aside, or were waiting until closer to the end of the period before purchasing their shares. It is important to note, that the share sale offer closes on December 14, 2001.
The Committee urges everyone to endeavour to purchase their shares as soon as possible, and preferably during the next two weeks. The total at December 14 will determine what steps are to be taken to raise any shortfall. We are expecting from the responses so far that we should not be too far short of the mark. It does appear that some delay will be incurred in the opening, however, this should be minimised.
Quite a few people have already taken advantage of opening accounts with Bendigo Bank. This is being facilitated through the Community Bank branch in Boorowa.
Arrangements may be made to have one of their staff travel to Braidwood if sufficient enquiries make it viable. Closer to our opening we will be able to get staff to Braidwood to set up new business.
Keep an eye on the sign on the block that is now being updated with our progress, and thermometers placed in shops around town. For those who have applied for their shares ask your friends if they have done so. We encourage everyone to participate in this great community project. With the many things that could be, and need to be supported in Braidwood, the sooner we start the better. Of course the benefits that Community Banking and the return of full banking services to Braidwood will bring should not be overlooked either.
The Committee urges everyone to get behind the Community Bank. It doesn’t matter
if you bank elsewhere, or with another bank. This is a Community Bank, it will be our bank. By supporting it you are supporting your community. In this day and age notions of loyalty to banks is a thing of the past. The benefits to our community surely come first. If you need assistance, or if you need a new prospectus, or if you never received one, please contact one of the Board members, who will be able to assist with any questions you may have.
