However, there were smiles all round as the wet weather failed to dampen the local agricultural spirit.
President of the Show Society Mr Barry McDowall said that the Show continues to "provide the premier family event of the year with attractions for all age groups."
The pavilion entries were outstanding considering the dry seasonal conditions and drought. There were no fruit entries but the standard of vegetable entries was up to the best seen.
"Although down in number, the wool entries were exceptional taking into account the seasonal conditions" said Barry.
The flower section was also outstanding and Secretary of the Braidwood Garden Club, Judi Robinson thanked "all those members who participated in the various flower and potted plant sections of the Show." Exhibits were of a high and colourful standard and plentiful which made the judge's job nail biting. Well done to all who entered and those who would have entered had it not been for the high winds in the early hours of Saturday morning" said Judi.
Cakes and cooking filled the very large display area and were admired by all. This year they were joined by the Home brewing section. The Arts and crafts continue to grow in exhibits to fill the pavilion space.
The school work display also continues to expand each year and this year over 600 individual entries from both the Braidwood Central School and St Bede's filled a large area of wall as well as displays from Captains Flat School.
"Horses, sheep and cattle and commercial entries were all up and the led cattle display was one of the best we have seen for many years" said Barry.
Sheep shearing and chain saw events, with undercover seating attracted large numbers of spectators.
Braidwood's Miss Showgirl Jodi Jackson and Junior Showgirl Rachel Farley added colour to the grand parade of vintage cars, trucks and tractors, Rural and NSW Fire Brigade vehicles.
Although Saturday was overcast with periodic showers, the weather did not deter the public and gate takings show very little change from fine say takings.
The Committee would like to thank the over 100 stewards and helpers who volunteered their valued time to make the 132nd Braidwood such a success.
