With backyard poultry becoming more popular than ever, why not enter some of your own flock. All entries need to be pure breed, and need to be in a healthy condition, and free of lice and scale. If you’re not sure if your best chook is suitable, why not pick up a schedule, and contact the chief steward for some help. But hurry, entries for the poultry and water section close this Friday, 24th February.
If you don’t have purebred poultry, don’t worry, there is a class in the Children’s pet show for the best pet chook, with entries taken on Show day from 10:30 in The Round (food and industrial area).
Now is the time to get out all those favourite recipes out and start preparing for a busy week before the show. There are several classes which allow cooks and bakers of all levels to show off their skills. There is even a class for a chocolate cake made by a man. The secret for the potential entrants is to ensure your icing is only placed on top of the chocolate cake.
Did you know the bread section has amateur classes, including classes for bread machine baked loaves? How easy! With classes for youth cookery, cakes, preserves, bread and cake decorating, there should be a class to suit you. If not, let us know and we will make a change to accommodate your skills next year.
If you consider yourself to be a budding photographer, why not enter the Triptych in colour or black and white. It’s easy. Grab your camera and catch a series of three photos. Try different angles, or even try to capture a story. All you need to do then is print your photos at the size of 10 cm x 15 cm or larger on photographic paper, and attach them securely to cardboard (200gsm) in a neutral colour such as black, white or grey. And don’t forget your camera on show day. There is a colour class just for photos of the Braidwood show, so start preparing for next year.
Pavilion entries (sections I to W, except U) can be dropped off to the show ground pavilion on Thursday the 1st of March between 4 pm and 7 pm, or on Friday the 2nd March between 8am and 10 am. For all new exhibitors, please be aware that entries close on the Friday morning at 10 am sharp, prior to judging commencing, so ensure that you get your entries in early.
Pick up a schedule from the newsagency, chemist, Community Bank, Landmark or Braidwood Rural and start planning your entries. If you have any questions, please contact the ever-so-helpful stewards prior to the show. Their contact details can be found in the schedule.
