At last Thursday's Palerang Council meeting in Braidwood Council resolved to provide Braidwood & Villages Tourism with a $6,000 grant towards a street lighting proposal put forward by Tracey Lamont. The money is to be drawn from the $20,000 tourism grant provided by the NSW Heritage Council to promote the heritage listing of Braidwood.
The "Lighting up History" project plans to illuminate at night, six of Braidwood's significant buildings along Wallace Street. They are the Albert Buildings (current Beauty Studio), the Court House, Palerang Council Chambers, Muttons, the Albion, and the Criterion.
A further $6,000 will come from Country Energy Australia and Lighthouse Distribution (lighting designers).
