Strathallan Hereford Studís annual on-property Hereford bull sale was held on September 12, 2001. The cold wet weather didnít deter buyers, who came from the coast, Nimmitabel, Cooma and Delegate areas and Gundaroo, as well as strong local support.

The top-priced bull by Kaludah Miracle weighed in at 958kg at 24 months and sold to Cassim and Hole, Glenfield, Majorís Creek for $6000. Twenty-five of the 26 bulls on offer cleared for an average of $2365.

Buyers included the Gumm Bros from Harold’s Cross, who outlaid $4750. Volume buyer, Roger Thwaites from Kyminvale, Araluen, purchased five Strathallan bulls and one bull from the Mount Sunset draft. The Royds family from Bedervale, Braidwood outlaid $6500 for two bulls; J and N Sturgiss, Mount Sunset Hereford Stud, invested $3500 in a Bramble Persuade son; P Reynolds, Araluen, purchased two bulls, as did Bruce Hall of Gundaroo; M and Taylor, Roscommon, purchased one bull and the Shea family of Milton purchased three bulls. The Lavis family were delighted to see seven bulls go into the Delegate and Cooma region.

Twenty-three Hereford cows with calves at foot sold to a top of $1030 with an average of $948.

The Lavis family extend a thank you to all buyers and under-bidders for supporting their 2001 sale.
