Tracey's food market triumph

30 Nov, 2006 11:48 AM
Braidwood's biggest tourism weekend attracted some thousands with fine weather for the annual Airing of the Quilts. This year's displays were rounded off with a Night Food Market in Ryrie Park. The inspiration and hard work by Braidwood and Villages Tourism's Tracey Lamont, the market saw around 500 locals and visitors enjoy a variety of food stalls and entertainment as the sea breeze kicked in. On offer were fresh prawns and oysters, yabbies, ffagots and mushy peas, Middle Eastern and Asian foods. Nearly all the food vendors sold out of food, as did the wines from Ravensworth Wines of Murrumbateman.

The entertainment got a cracking start with young Mongarlowe resident Billy Robertson West, followed by music from DJ Karuna, and talented young band, The Cosh, from Clyde Mountain, as well as the ever popular jumping castle for the even younger set. All monies raised from the market will go to Braidwood Central Schools new gym for the purchase of equipment.

The only question on most people's lips was, 'when is the next one?'
