We'll meet at Ryrie Park for a 10am departure by bus. The first stop is at Peter Marshall's property at Reidsdale to see 4-5 year-old re-created wetlands, working with water plants and willow control.
Morning tea will be served as we move on to Berlang where Martin Royds has been recreating a chain of ponds in a deep and badly eroded erosion gully. The object of the day is to see both small and large-scale rehydration projects and how they promote stream vegetation and erosion control.
After lunch at Berlang we will have a meeting of the Upper Shoalhaven chapter of the Natural Sequence Association to report on our progress to date. Most memberships are up for renewal and we hope to attract new members as well.
Since the Association was launched in March 2007, we have been working steadily to promote the work of Peter Andrews, although never fast enough to satisfy the man himself. Peter remains permanently mystified as to why such a demonstrably appropriate solution to landscape degradation is taking so long to be recognised and put into practice.
We'll return to Ryrie Park around 4pm. The cost for transport and refreshment is $20 per person but if the whole family wants to come we'll most likely do you a deal. Book by Thursday Feb 19 to secure a spot by ringing Martin on 4842 2058.
See you there.
