Women's craft at Warragandra

21 Nov, 2007 03:00 AM
Lisa Ashton travelled from the coast to 'Warragandra' on the Jerrabatgulla Creek, to teach craft at the invitation of Kitty Tischler. The Gundillion Women's Craft Group meet each Tuesday. The workshop was planned so they would firstly hand-knit pure wool bags and then felt them by washing machine to make very sturdy fashion bags. The ladies arrived with bundles of wool, some hand-spun and dyed and other very exotic varieties. "They all set to knitting and chatting and with a little help from me managed to knit a very large unattractive sloppy bag. No worries, off to Kitty's laundry and a good hot wash and voila the bags were transformed into the most amazing collection of unique bags" said Lisa.

You will be able to see the work of this very creative group displayed in St Andrew's Anglican Church, on the Quilt Event weekend.

The Gundillion women have also made the most fabulous Christmas raffle quilt as a group project. Tickets for this as well as Christmas cakes and puddings will be on sale over the festival weekend on the Raine & Horne verandah.
