Yes but what can we do?

Yes but what can we do?

12 Dec, 2001 08:12 AM
September 11 2001 changed the way most of the world thinks and feels. In our kitchen we have a newspaper cutting that says, “Our grief is not a cry for war”.

We have seen the loss of life, the devastation of the countryside, very young children made into orphans, on the nightly news. A lot of us would have been feeling helpless - “what can I do?”

People of Braidwood can continue their reputation of being a supportive caring community by helping to support a stall at the local markets on Saturday December 15.

The money raised will be going directly to the Afghan children’s appeal to help feed children in the camps.

If you have any saleable items (not clothes) please leave them at 95 Lascelles Street before December 15. If you have perishable items please take them to the stall in the park on Saturday 15.

It is a practical way of helping, saying we care even though we are thousands of kilometres from Afghanistan. MARILLA LOWREY, Four Pines, Braidwood.
