Young musicians band together

03 Feb, 2010 11:01 AM
Band Together, the second program presented by Riffs and Rants in the January School Holidays, saw 11 up and coming musicians transformed into rock stars and transformed again into two very inspiring bands.

The first band The Prokrastinators are Bob McDougall, Eddie Morris, Josh Stubbs and Clay Williams, who learnt the finer detail of putting together a band from the ground up, including some business considerations that slay most new bands. They worked on an original piece written by some of the band members in the Braidwood Musical Alliance's workshop. Their performance was tight, the groove infectious - we look forward to much more from this new band.

The second band to be born is The Six with Kelsie Mailler and Sullivan Kovacs on vocal, Angus Mailler on Ukulele, Forbes Mailler on Keys, Jeremy Ramm on Drums, and Lochlan Ramm and Angus Weaver on Electric Guitar. The Six worked brilliantly as a band, brushing off their solo aspirations to perform the Katy Perry hit Hot 'n' Cold, and were the better band at Band Together's final session on Saturday. As a result The Six will have the opportunity to record their song later this term and may even turn up on Braidwood's very own 2BR, so listen out.

All the tutors of both Band Together and Art Week had a great time, discovering all your talents and helping you create an array of creative work, and we can't wait to do it all again. A big thank you to everyone involved and to all those parents and businesses who supported this inaugural program, particular thanks to Rob and all the staff at the Braidwood Servicemen's Club.
