Soccer Reports - Round 16

24 Sep, 2009 12:04 PM
Another fantastic day for the football at the Braidwood Rec. with the round 16 and semi final action on display.

Our Grand Final / Presentation day has arrived and the 2009 season has been a big success! The game timetable has changed a little so we can fit in 3 separate presentations so please take note of when your game is.

The canteen will be busy this week as all sausages sandwiches are free. Drinks will have the usual pricing but all players are entitled to 1 free drink.

The roster for the day is Kylie Walker - 8:50am, Nicole O'Connell - 9:20am, Lorraine Roberts - 9:50am, Jason Pont - 10:20am, Tiffany Royds - 10:50am, Trish Hemler - 11:20am, Jenny Daniher - 11:50am, Kerry Malone - 12:30pm. If you can't do the shift could you please find a replacement before the day to help out.

SUBJUNIORS

The subbies had another great rollup of kids keen to have more fun on the mini field. All the players have improved their skills and a solid routine of passing, jumping, throwing and shooting has seen the game at the end of the session have a lot more structure to them.

The game between the Blacks and Blues was fantastic with a fair bit of time passing before the Blacks Leroy Cambell-Davys finally score the first goal. Ben Castle scored for the Blues as did Jackson Morris who was also great in defence during the game. The Blues Lochlan Hindmarsh joined in with some good kicks as did Daisy Millpark, Jai Bunn, Imogen Dixon and Max Morris. Jake Waters scored for the Blues and played well at times but the Blacks Louise Story, Alice Tooth and Isabella Hindmarsh all scored good goals to give the Blacks a comfortable lead. Fergus Tooth, Bonnie Park, Angus and Emily Stuart-Camenzuli and Ameilia Barrington all played well for the Blacks which saw them win the game 4-3.

JUNIORS

The Incredibles v Dragon Riders

The Dragon Riders put up a good fight in defence but the might of the Incredibles was hard to stop. Isabella Culmone scored 3 goals, Ned Jeffrey scored 2 and Harry Jeffrey scored 1 in what was a display of confidence in front of goal for the Incredibles. Lily Morris scored for the Dragon Riders to help them on the score board but the Incredibles ran out comfortable winners. Final score The Incredibles 6 Dragon Riders 1

Storm Hawks v Power Rangers

This was a match worthy of a Grand Final with both teams having many attempts on goal but only some outstanding goal keeping from both teams keepers limited the score. Both teams passed the ball from end to end in a great display of football. A special mention should be for Cate Shea, who suffered a blood nose to save a shot but which helped the Storm Hawks to score their first goal. Callaum Doyle scored 2 goals for the Storm Hawks which not only sealed the win but also the top spot on the ladder. Final score Storm Hawks 2 Power Rangers 0

INTERMEDIATES

1st semi final 1st v 4th

Villains v Scallywags

The Villains defence has been hard to beat all season and the Scallywags certainly put a heap of pressure on them during the game but 3 good goals from the Villains put them into the Grand Final next week. Final score Villains 3 Scallywags 0

2nd semi final 2nd v 3rd

Rascals v Bushrangers

The Bushrangers were on the back foot for most of the first half as a pumped up Rascals hammered their defence with plenty of attempts on goal. The Rascals seemed to be first to the ball most of the time and they managed to score 3 good goals to take them into next weeks Grand final. Final score Rascals 3 Bushrangers 0

SUB-YOUTH

1st semi final 1st v 4th

King Browns v Cobras

The Cobras started brilliantly with a quick goal that promised an upset but the King Browns clawed back and managed to score a goal before half time. The game looked quite even and i don't think anyone at the ground was expecting what followed after the break. Four goals to the King Browns in 5 minutes rocked the Cobras off their game and they managed another 2 before the game had finished. The Cobras can take something out of the game knowing that they at least scored against the best defence in the division. Final score King Browns 7 Cobras 1

2nd semi final 2nd v 3rd

Death Adders v Taipans

The Taipans have created plenty of chances all year and the only reason they finished 3rd on the ladder was due to their lack of finishing. The Death Adders had scored the most goals during the season but their defence was leaky at times throughout the season. The Taipans put it together when it counted the most and managed to hit the back of the net 3 times during the game which certainly stunned the Death Adders . The Taipans defence was outstanding and repelled countless attacking raids from the Death Adders and handed them a spot in the Grand Final next week. Final score Taipans 3 Death Adders 0

YOUTH

1st semi final 1st v 4th

Bull Sharks v Tiger Sharks

The Bull Sharks got off to a flyer when they scored after just 24 seconds and the Tiger Sharks although they created as many if not more chances throughout the game could score off any of them. The Bull Sharks managed to score another 2 before the end of the match to book them into next weeks Grand final. 2nd semi final 2nd v 3rd

Hammerheads v Gummy Sharks

The Gummy Sharks took the upper hand after some attractive lead up play saw them hit the lead in a tight contest. The Hammerheads midfield was in disarray at times but they still managed to create chances but could finish them. The Gummy Sharks had the better of the midfield battle and set up another great goal to get them a strong victory leading into the Grand Final. Try as they might, nothing went right for the Hammerheads who all season have had the measure of the Gummy Sharks. Final score Gummy Sharks 2 Hammerheads 0
