A Great Day for Ducks

20 Jul, 2006 01:48 PM
The Redbacks took on Batemans Bay at the Bay last Saturday on a perfect day for sport. Unfortunately that sport was water polo.

We were missing a couple of players through injury, but started where we left off last week, pick and drive form the forwards, giving the backs good ball.

It wasn't long before Crawfo (in-between sleeps) crashed over for a try.

That was the last goodnew for a while. The Bay used their quick backline to good effect and in the wet coniditions always seemed to stretch the Redbacks defence. That coupled with a horror run of injuries (Coey, Moff, Royds, Lyons) saw us well behind the 8 ball.

But showing t7ypical never say die attitude led by Nick Black with a tremendous performance we kept up the pressure. Brendan Maher saved the try of the day with individual brilliance.

Sadly, that was our final save. The score line isn't important (unless your from the Bay.) Let's just say that we came second.

The Royal Mail three points went to Nick Black. Foodworks 2 points to Brendan Maher, Ferret, Tallaganda Service Station 1 point to Craig Coe and Sam Lyons.

Thank you to all the supporters who travelled down. Hope you all dry out for this Saturday, a double header down at the Rec. Bears on at 1.30pm, Redbacks 3.00pm. Yours Ian Thorpe.
