 The Redbacks March Continues

The Redbacks March Continues

10 Aug, 2006 01:45 PM
With one more game to go before the semi finals the Redbacks have scored at least third place on the ladder and the possibility of a home semi final.

Despite this there was no room for complacency. We needed a win over Ulladulla. Once again Braidwood turned on a great day, produced a huge crowd and the Bears gave us the now traditional victory - well done lads.

With a late kick off we were able to practice on the new scrum machine, (thankyou Rainbow Valley Square Meaters, Steve Bevege, Landmark Daniel Walker and Martin Pitt.) This paid off immediately as Lyons, Northcott, Morrison and the return of Fuz dominated up front all day.

Braidwood gave the opposition the usual head start then finally cut out the mistakes to use the glut of possession they were enjoying, thanks to big Moff, Royds and Holland. Bryce scored after great work from the backline, the likes of Maher, Tim, Ferret, Jacob, Bowie, Reece get better and better each game.

With the Ulladulla scrum going backwards and Whitey filling the big shoes of Coe and dominating the line out, more points were bound to come.

From a metre out (don't let him tell you it was more), his hair glistening in the sunlight, Haggis washed over a try.

The second half the Redbacks finally got it together, pick and drive and dominating forwards game, plenty of room in the back, Nick Black raced over for his now traditional try, Bryce and Cairns were too good running in tries, and even Coe after resting up on the sideline saved a great No 8 try. Final Score 34 - 7.

Thank you to the huge crowd, all the supporters and sponsor.

The Royal Mail 3 points went to Tim Morrison, Tallaganda Service Station 2 points Bryce McMurtrie and Foodworks 1 point to Brendan Maher.

This week we're away at Bermagui then its into the final series.
