Bears down to Tigers

19 Aug, 2009 10:25 AM
The Bears racked up three tries - with 2 converted - halfway trough the 1st half then Bungendore scored a converted try just before the break for a 16-6 scoreline to the Bears. The Tigers then had all the ball for the first 20 minutes of the 2nd stanza and they scored tries in the 40th, 43rd, 45th and 55th minutes converting 3 of them to race to a 28-16 lead over the luckless Bears. Strangely the Bears didn't receive a penalty for the second half and had Adam Dixon in the sin-bin in the 44th minute. Adam Hacker gave the Bears a glimmer of hope when he scored in the 61st minute after anticipating and intercepting a Tigers pass and running 55 metres to score with Matt McCarthy converting to give a 28-22 scoreline to the Tigers. Bungendore held on till the final siren winning back the Mick Sherd Shield.

Game Day Sponsor Woden Construction Players Player went to Adam Hacker who scored 2 tries and was eveywhere in both attack and defence. 2nd place went to 5/8 Pig Guihot who set up his outside men brilliantly in the first half and tackled himslf to a standstill in the second. Adam Dixon picked up the Coaches Award . Dicko scored a top try off a planned move in the first half, and gave every thing in defence in the second. The Bears are now in equal 3rd spot with the Tigers but are ahead on for and against and with just 2 rounds remaining. Next Saturday sees the Bears take on the 5th placed Exchange Rabbitohs at the Rec at 3pm in the last home game of the season and the boys need all the support you good people of Braidwood can muster to consolidate 3rd place. The Lions Club will be running a Bar-b-que. A special invitation to all the former Bears to come along and celebrate what has been a good year for the Braidwood Bears. Then join with the players and supporters at the Club after the game for refreshments and a DJ.

Win Jones won Proths PICK-A-BEAR $1660 jackpot when Adam Dixon scored first on Saturday. Thanks to all who supported and Sonia Fanning won Steve Bevege's donated load of wood and Michelle Griggs won the Olga Vaseo donated Body Massage. Thank you Steven and Olga for your generous support.

The Bruce Stuart Building ScoreBoard for Rd 16. Tigers 28 Bears22 [Hacker 2 tries, Dixon 1, Heaycox 1 and McCarthy 3 conversions].
