Punishing defence laid the Bears platform in the first half while only holding on to a narrow lead, the Bears kicked in to top gear in attack ran in 5 tries to 1 in the second half.

Cameron "Piggy" Guihot got second place for his best effort at half back so far this season. Shawn Heycox`s game at fullback won him the Coach's Award. A backline reshuffle- with the Paul Stuart's withdrawal from the match due to the arrival of Paul and Megan's new baby girl- saw Shawn move back to fullback and Stevie Newsome into the Halves. Shawns kick returns were outstanding and his support play and defence was solid.
Coach Giannasca was extremely pleased with the win and the way all his boys played from fullback to the interchange bench. It was great to see Phil Jonas and Marty Edwards back on the paddock and both backed it up with solid games. The win sets up for a beauty next Saturday when the Bears take on 2nd Placed Bungendore in the Battle of Palerang. It will be a feast of footy at the rec with the Junior soccer kicking off at 8.30, then the high flying Redbacks taking on Bombala at 1.30 and the Bears up against the Tigers at 3pm.
