The Braidwood Servicemen's Bears line up against the Goulburn Exchange Rabbitohs next Saturday at Harden at 1.00pm after the results of the last round of the competition over the weekend. Binalong finished minor -premiers after defeating Harden who ended up in 2nd place. Bungendore claimed 3rd place with a convincing 70-0 win over the Highlanders.
Our Bears were assured of 4th place with last weeks 24-16 defeat of West Belconnen and this weekends bye while the Exchange side had to beat Crookwell at Crookwell which they did 34-18 and claimed 5th place.
The Bears will be strengthened with the return of hardworking Billy Halligan, enforcer Brent Backhouse and live wire utility back Josh Turnbull but won't have Captain Coach Stevie Newsome lining up, who sustained a career ending head injury against West Belconnen, which is a real blow as the Bears chase their first ever senior premiership. Its a real shame Newsome won't be on the paddock for all the hard work he has put into the Bears this year making them a real tittle contender and everyone is hoping Stevie has a quick recovery so he can enjoy the Bears potential success in this years finals even if it is on the sideline.
Thanks must go to Steve Hockey from Hockey's Braidwood for his Game Day Sponsorship of next Saturdays Semi versus Exchange. Hockey's have been long time supporters of League in Braidwood, providing 3 fairly handy footballers and much valued sponsorship in the modern era.
