The Bears commanded a 22-0 lead at oranges and crossed for 12 tries to 0. Equal 5th placed Harman lined up their strongest side to take on the Bears in recent times but soon realised they couldn’t match it with the Bears strong defence and superior fitness. Braidwood laid on 4 tries before the halftime then really dominated the second half racking up another 8.
With every Bear from Captain Stevie Newsome at fullback to a Mark Piper at prop and including the interchange bench playing their best game of the season the Player player voting was very close with 'Mr Perpetual Motion 'Adam Hacker picking up 1st place. Hacker notched up 2 tries with great support play and outran the defence from 50 metres out on both occasions. His spoiling defence was excellent for the entire match and was never far from the play. 2nd place went to Hooker Matty McCarthy who ran in 4 tries and kicked 9 conversions, gave top service from dummy half and snuffed out any potential Seadog attacks with telling defence at crucial times.
Thanks to Richard Walker from Landmark Daniel Walker for the Game Day Sponsorship and support of the Bears Players Player Award. Big Ty Noble extra sessions with Bears trainer Cassie Moran are paying dividends with his kickoff returns scattering defenders in his wake and his bonecrunching defence gave the some of the Harman attackers second thoughts about taking the ball up a second time. Ty deservedly picked up the Coaches Award.
Next Saturday the Bears take on the Crookwell Green Devils at the Rec at 3pm. Proth’s Pick-a-Bear jackpots to $1,400 for the Crookwell game. John Young was last weeks unsuccessful draw winner.
