Boat Launch in Nelligen

15 Nov, 2006 03:23 PM
The Boat built for the Braidwood Fishing Club, via Students from the Braidwood Central School over the last two years was finally launched on the 4th November, at the President Trophy weekend at Nelligen. Present was Master Boat Builder Ron Corby, co-ordinators Lindsay Wallace and Rod Martin. Lindsay baptized the boat with a little Braidwood Fishing Club fire water. Then student boat builders Patrick Bourke, Zac Allen and Glen Herringe (absent Adam Brown and Ben Bartley) who took the boat out for its maiden voyage. It road the waves created via the water skiers beautifully. Ron Corby was made honorary clubman of the year for the many hours he spent on the boat and the fishing club is very proud of their new boat. Many thanks go to Ron, Rod and Lindsay. The Servicemen's club will supply a motor for the boat and will be used for fishing club outings and driver training for our juniors.

As well as the boat launch, it was President Trophy weekend and nearly everyone had a fish to weigh-in. Saturday night Bruce Stuart again cooked up seafood which was enjoyed by the members. Sunday was presentations, with Lindsay Wallace pipped on the post via junior Joel Goodmyer for heaviest fish caught in the Clyde River with a 1kg Flathead. Geoff McGrath got the trophy for the heaviest outside fish with a nice reddie. And Kate Goodwin got the juniors prize for her flounder.

We have decided to hold a comp on the 23rd to 25th February at Tuross Heads. Apparently they are catching some good fish in the river so let's give it a go. We'll stay at Tuross Lakeside Tourist Park. To book ring (02) 4473 8181. For any information contact Kerrie on 48422486
