 Braidwood Cup this Saturday

Braidwood Cup this Saturday

06 Feb, 2009 10:04 AM
Nominations are in, so keen punters will be able to study the form book after 5pm on Friday, available from the Braidwood Hotel, Serviceman's Club and the Royal Mail Hotel. Or pick one up at the gate on the way in. Watch out for last year's cup winner trainer and local, Neale Lavis.

Other talent on the track will include the Braidwood Bears Rugby Club sprint between races 2 & 3. The Bears will hold their annual fundraising Calcutta at the Braidwood Serviceman's Club this Friday night.

And of course, Fashions on the Field. With the prizes on offer this year, it is worth making that extra effort to doll yourselves up. The 'Best Dressed Young Lady under 16' and the 'Best Dressed Young Lady under 21' will receive a voucher from the Braidwood Beauty Studio, as will the 'Best Dressed Gent'. The 'Best Dressed Couple' will win 1 night accommodation at Mantra on Northbourne and tickets to the Black Opal donated by Thoroughbred Park. The 'Best Dressed Lady' will win 1 night accommodation at Star City for 2 people. Combine these prizes with flowers from the Bunyip Jungle, champagne from the Braidwood Hotel and chocolates from the Boiled Lolly and you'll almost feel as good as the cup winner!

The Punters Club this year will be run by Chris Scholtz, a Sydney media racing identity, and tickets can be purchased from the TAB at the racecourse.

Important information to remember is that admission is $15/$5 concession and children. The buses will pick up from the pubs, club, motels and post office from midday. The first race is at 1pm. There is food and drinks available at the racecourse. There is no BYO alcohol. Buses will return to town after the last race at approximately 5pm.

The Braidwood Jockey Club would like to thank all the sponsors of the 2009 Braidwood Cup. Without their support we would not be able to host such a successful and enjoyable event within the community: Country Energy, Cortona Resources, Royal Mail Hotel, Braidwood Serviceman's Club, Olyred, Bruce Stuart, Armpell, Gil O'Leary Specialised Smash Repairs, O'Rourkes, Hannaford Stud, Jackson family, Arthur Keely, Braidwood Butchery, Geoff King, Phil Anderson, Kevin Corby, Braidwood First National Real Estate, Schute Bell, Elders, Landmark, McMurtrie Company, Jim Hindmarsh, Roy Grant, Jim O'Connell, Toeys Transport, Honan family, Peter Young Transport, Murray Harrex, Craig Coe, Majors Creek Hotel, Hugh Krijnen, BC & GR Kain, Darren Rowley, Braidwood Soil Construction, Shoemark Real Estate, Pat Byrnes, Tim White, Braidwood Beauty Studio, Braidwood Hotel, Braidwood Boiled Lolly Shop, Braidwood Bunyip Jungle, Star City, Mantra on Northbourne and Thoroughbred Park.

So we hope to see you all there for a great day out with family and friends and that your punting is successful, be it by knowledge, name or colour. And if you see the BJC President Mr Saville doing anything resembling work on race day, please seat him down with a beer in hand.
