A cool spring day greeted the last round of action before the finals with teams in each division still jostling for positions for the finals next week. Some entertaining games were played in each division and to all the players who braved the misty conditions well done, playing in the wet isn’t as bad as you thought!
Those of you who have volunteered your time for the next two weekends will be notified this week as to what time you are on and we still need some extra volunteers to help out with some later shifts on both days! If you can help and haven’t put your name down yet then please contact either Jenny Daniher on 48427166 or Mark Roberts on 48475074 and we can slot you in somewhere!
A big thankyou to the Refs from last week! Nick Fry, Luke Hemler, Kaylah Jullienne Dylan Crisp and Nathan Oldfield all did a fine job in keeping the games starting on time and have been the backbone of the club for most of the season!
Make sure you check what time your games are on and let your team mates know when your games kickoff so no-one misses out on the day!
The Semi Finals will be played this week and there will be extra time at the end of normal time if the scores are tied. This will mean that there will be another coin toss to see who kicks off again and then two five minute halves are to be played in full. No golden goal!! If the scores are still tied at the end of the game then a penalty shoot out will be played till a winner by at least 1 goal after a minimum of 5 shots each. If you are not sure what all of this means then don’t panic you will find out eventually on the day.
SUB-JUNIORS
A small but keen bunch of subbies practiced some dribbling skills and then played an intense game of football. The Greens of Tyler Croxon, Christina Culmone, Zoe Cargill, Darcy Lyons and Riley Nicholson took on the might of the Reds with the able crew of Leroy Campbell-Davys, Jonathon Coe, Darcy Gilbert and Ben Castle all keen to have a kick. The Game was set at a cracking pace with the Greens jumping away to a 2 nil lead but the Reds hit back and Ben Castle found form to score a hat-trick of goals. Christina scored in what ever goal she was closest to which is all good but the Greens increased their lead and the pace of the game finally got the better of the Reds as the Greens came home to score 2 late goals which eneded the gam at 4-4. Well done kids!!
JUNIORS
Gemfish v Catfish
A congratulation to both teams as this was one of the best games this season! Well done to Ethan Gray, who scored his first goal of the season after a first half spent saving goals. Once the deadlock was broken, the goals came quickly for the Gemfish scoring 3 goals in 3 minutes but the Catfish had the final say of the game scoring late in the game to finish off a tense encounter. Best for the Gemfish were Ethan Gray, Josh Story and Declan Norris and best for the Catfish were Jeremy Ramm, Isaac Quattromini and Brock McAdam.
Final score Gemfish 4 Catfish 1

On a cold spring day I must say well done by all!! A very close game of soccer where all the kid had a great game and enjoyed the run around. Only 1 goal to Andrew Barr for the Goldfish saw them rack up their 3rd win of the season! Its good to see a team that struggled for form at the start of the year get a few wins in the closing stages of the season. Best for the Goldfish were Finn Walker, Sam Daniher and Andrew Barr and best for the Clownfish were Rosie Fanning Ryan Castle and Zali Liversidge.
Final score Goldfish 1 Clownfish 0

Jets v Spitfires
The top of the table clash was a tight and hard fought game. The Spitfires sat 2 points behind the Jets for top spot on the ladder and were keen for a victory to steal the top spot ahead of the finals next week. A close shave in the opening minutes for the Jets in defence set the tone for the game as the Spitfires dominated the field position. The halftime break saw the scores still tied but the Spitfires managed to capitalise on a good attacking raid and take the lead mid way through the second half. A late penalty sealed the win as the Spitfires left it to the last round to take first spot in this entertaining division. Best for the Spitfires were Kelly Liversidge Jack Asimus and Shannon Castle and best for the Jets were Matthew Royds Celia Thornton and Wyll Holland.

SENIORS
Pink Panthers v Black Sheep
The 1st placed Pink Panthers had to get at least a draw out of this game to keep 1st place on the ladder and after a slow start to the game for the Black Sheep and conceding an early goal the Pink Panthers looked like taking the points. The second half was a different story though as the Black Sheep hit back hard and a terrific goal from out wide from Sarah Hemler put the Black Sheep in with a chance of an upset win. The Pink Panthers Goalie Liam McClure saved at least 4 good chances from the Black Sheep and a goal against the run of play to the Pink Panthers sealed the win and top spot for them on the ladder. This means both teams will meet again next week at 9am as the 1st placed Pink Panthers take on the 4th placed Black Sheep in what could be an exciting game. The Black Sheep created more chances and are a serious threat to the competition leaders for next weeks Semi final.
Best for the Pink Panthers were Tyran Ellison, Shane Klomp and Cameron Pont and best for the Black sheep were Riley Sheridan, Josh Fletcher and Sarah Hemler.
Final score Pink Panthers 2 Black Sheep 1

No report handed in but the Heelers got up 2-0 in a tight game. Both teams meet again next week at 10am in what is set to be another close game!
YOUTH
Giants v Yankees
these to teams were fighting it out for second spot on the ladder as the Redsox were out of reach to catch in the race for the finals. The Yankees were leaders into the halftime break but the Giants hit back early in the second half and a draw was good enough for both teams to keep ahead of the Dodgers in forth position regardless of their result against the Redsox.
Final Result Giants 1 Yankees 1
This means these two teams will meet again next week at 12pm in the 2nd plays 3rd semi.
Redsox v Dodgers
The Dodgers were decimated with players away for their game and had a few younger fill ins try and help them out. The Redsox however raced away to a 3 goal lead and with 4 early goals in the second half went to sleep only to let in 3 late goals to the Dodgers.
Final score Redsox 7 Dodgers 3
This means these two teams meet again next week at 11am to determine who gets into the Grand final.
