Were you once a Scout, Cub or Guide? Then we'd like to hear from you. 1st Braidwood Scouts is marking 80 years of Scouting in our town, and 100 years of Scouting in NSW and Australia. To commemorate this milestone, we're asking everyone who has been involved in any form of Scouting in the past, either as a leader or as a participant, to join us at an Alumni Roundup and Celebration of Scouting on April 5th.
As part of the celebration, we're also trying to find out who is the oldest living member of 1st Braidwood Scouts. As Scouts has been part of Braidwood for eight decades, we're guessing that some members of our community must have been involved a fairly long while ago. If that is you, or someone you know, we'd like a chance to let today's Scouts, Cubs, and Joeys talk to you about your memories of Scouting. As well, we'd love that person to be our guest of honour on the day. So please, make yourself known.
We are also marking the retirement of Barry Thomas, the current Leader in Charge, and Leader of the Joeys and Scouts. As there is not yet a replacement, we'd like to showcase the strength of our current Scouts, Cubs, and Joeys, and encourage members of the community to consider how they join us to make sure Scouting continues for another 80 years.
So mark April 5th in your diary to join us at our Celebration of Scouting. Everyone is invited (young and old, former Scouts or not) for a range of activities and a sausage sizzle. And if you are a former Scout or Guide, or think you know who the oldest 1st Braidwood Scout might be, drop us a note at info@laughingowl.com.au or phone 0409 609 428.
