CLIMATE CHANGE (cup) OVER

24 May, 2007 12:54 PM
The grand Final of the Braidwood & District Tennis Club "Climate Change Cup" was played out on a crisp, dry Tuesday evening. Five teams of eight players had competed in the competition, from the heat of February to the beanie weather of May, with 4 or 5 washouts thrown in.

The team that had lead all season 'Royd's Rainmakers' were beaten on the night, by ten games (on count back),after both teams finished with eight sets each. The winning team was 'South's Sleets' comprising :Murray Smith, Sam Wilson, Alistair James, Captain Bob South, Allen Birkett, Norman Meader (Replaced for final by Mary Langdon), Fay Griggs (replaced for final by Lynette Lavis) and Georgina Byrnes. A barbecue and trophy presentation were held at the end of the night. Thanks again to Nick for the fry up. We look forward to our next season of tennis which begins in September. SO why not come and join us?!
