While all the students were given a thorough workout prior to the grading, they all found the training exceptionally enlightening and inspiring. The training was very useful to help sharpen the student's techniques and lift their confidence which is always welcome before any examination.
Achieving the level of 3rd Kyu (brown belt) were Bryce Campbell and Liam McClure. Rodney Royds double graded to 8th Kyu (yellow belt) and Toby Royds graded to 9th Kyu (yellow belt white stripe).
After the grading and lunch, Sensei Ryan then led another two-hour training session for brown and black belt grades which was well attended by a number of senior students from Canberra.
Sensei David Rush said "Now that Bryce and Liam have reached brown belt level, they are invited to join other advanced karate students in senior grade training sessions each month in Canberra and Braidwood. Senior grade training provides the important higher level of instruction required for advanced students to perfect their karate techniques and attain their 1st Dan Black Belt (and higher Black Belt grades) in line with the national curriculum', added David.
"The standard, complexity and volume of the senior student's karate at Braidwood will markedly increase from this point and the time between examinations now also increases", said David. "Earning a black belt is not easy - it takes a lot of sweat, a lot of heart and sometimes a little blood! However, once reached the sense of achievement and satisfaction makes it worth all that effort", added David.
