Wade Sephton, Tim Amey and Nichole Amey made it to the National Finals Rodeo in Tamworth from 20-23rd January.
To qualify they were ranked in the top 15 Australian competitors for each of their events. They competed in 4 rounds of rodeo over 4 days in the new Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre, Tamworth. Prize money was determined by round as well as for the average of the 4 round event, and titles were determined by prize money and points the competitors had earned during the year.
Nichole won the Breakaway Roping title, as well as winning round 4 of the barrel race and the average in the barrel race. Tim won the third round of the bull ride. Local horse Cisco won the fastest time of the Steer Undecorating event.
The finals bring together the best competitors as well as the best stock, making for tough competition in the roughstock events, and for lively and entertaining rodeo for the spectators. The indoor arena seated approximately 3,000 people reaching maximum capacity on the final two nights.
