McGlone receives AIS Scholarship

26 Mar, 2009 01:51 PM
Brittney held an individual scholarship in athletics during the 2006 and 2007 SERAS Country Energy Programs. She is the first athlete from SERAS to progress to a full time scholarship at the AIS in track and field. In January this year Brittney was awarded the Garry Knoke Memorial Scholarship at the AIS awards night.

The Gary Knoke Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to Gary Knoke (1941 - 1984) was one of Australia's leading hurdles coaches who passed away after a long battle against cancer. Gary was one of Australia's finest athletes who competed at three Olympic Games and four Commonwealth Games. He held the Australian 400m hurdle record and won seven national titles between 1965 and 1973. In 1966 he was ranked number one in the world for the 400m hurdles.

In 2008 Brittney represented Australia in the 400m hurdles and the 4 x 400m relay at the 12th World Junior Championships in Poland. She has demonstrated the ability to reach the highest level in her sport and the academy wishes her all the best for her future athletics career.
