The Christmas Rodeo Season saw local Braidwood competitors compete at Jindabyne, Moruya and Picton. Michael Laurie and Wayne Crisp rode in the bull ride at Jindabyne on Boxing Day. The Moruya Rodeo on New Years Day was well attended by local competitors Wayne Crisp, Tim Amey, Michael Kennedy, Wade Sephton, Matt Pearson and Jake Williams. Jake placed 2nd in the Novice Bull Ride and Wade placed 3rd in the Open Saddle Bronc Ride. It was also fantastic to see so many Braidwood supporters there.
The season of rodeo in our area is well underway with Goulburn, Cooma and Queanbeyan rodeos coming up, with Braidwood Rodeo finishing the season on 10th April 2010. Braidwood Rodeo will begin at approximately 10am on the day and run a standard program of timed and roughstock events, including a poddy ride for the budding cowboys and cowgirls of the community. Events should finish at approximately 6pm for a presentation dinner and dance in the pavilion.
Plans for the Braidwood Rodeo are coming along, and we thank the community for your support with the raffles and fundraising of 2009. We are still in need of sponsorship for chutes and events. Sponsors get recognition through visual, verbal and material advertising in the arena on the day and in the lead-up to the event, with major sponsors getting prominent advertising on chutes and in the arena.
If you are interested in sponsorship, volunteering or even competing on the day please contact Kate on 4842 2454 or 0400 879 049.
Polish up those boots, dust off your hats and prepare for the rodeo event of the year outside Mount Isa!
