Sensei David Rush placed 6th in the 40-44 yrs individual male kata event at the 2009 Shotokan Karate World Championships in Athens, Greece last month.

Sensei David, who runs Braidwood and Nowra Shotokan Karate clubs, performed exceptionally well winning each of his heats to make the finals in a field of more than 60 competitors from around the world.

The 32 member Australian Team returned from the World Championships with three medals this year and it has never had so many members make it to the finals before.

If you or a member of your family is interested in learning self defence and fitness, classes in traditional and effective Shotokan Karate for children, teens and adults are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Braidwood Central School Hall. Contact Sensei David on 4421 5542 for details or log onto: www.shotokankarate.com.au
