The Braidwood Junior Soccer Club's inaugural visit to Majors Creek was a great success with a touch of Spring in the air a beautiful day greeted the round 14 action. The Majors Creek locals did a great job of feeding the hundreds of people there to watch some high scoring games. SUB-JUNIORS
I would like to thank Jason Hindmarsh who did a great job filling in for me while i covered some refereeing shortages due to the school musical being on. These young soccer players are a lot of fun to be around and from a distance it looked like everyone was enjoying the bigger field at the Creek.
A bigger report for next week!
JUNIORS
Joeys v Tadpoles
An early goal to the Joeys after Thomas Barrington slotted in a nice shot but the Tadpoles never gave up and a tightly fought game followed. All players from both teams played well and as hard as they tried the Tadpoles couldn't crack the Joeys defence to level the game. Best for the Joeys were Darcy Gilbert, Jess Watkins-Sully and Riley Nicholson and best for the Tadpoles were Amy Clarke, Forbes Gordon and Gus Munnings. Final score Joeys 1 Tadpoles 0
Brumbies v Cubs
The smaller field at the creek made the game very even with both teams going close to scoring. Jarrah Parsons scored for the Brumbies in the second half after some great teamwork and the Cubs went close to equalising shortly after but couldn't quite manage to level the game. Best for the Brumbies were Georgia Grant, Ryan Castle and Ella Parsons and best for the Cubs were Jasmine Potter, Harrison Wall and Jarrah Parsons. Final score Brumbies 1 Cubs 0
INTERMEDIATES
1st Final
Monaro's 1st v 6th Mustangs
The Monaro's showed some great teamwork in their convincing victory as they dominated the first half. They went to the break with a four nil lead as the Mustangs defence buckled under the relentless attack from the Monaro's. An early goal from the Mustangs in the second half gave them a brief sniff of a revival but another 3 goals to the Monaro's completed a comprehensive victory. Best for the Monaro's were Sam Daniher, Adrian Holcman and Elizabeth Vella and best for the Mustangs were Joel Croxon, Georgia Garcia and Callaum Doyle. Final score Monaro's 7 Mustangs 1
2nd Final
Jaguars 2nd v 5th Corvette's
The Jaguars showed some great form in the first half with good passing and an enthusiasm for goals. Aydan Saad scored a hat-trick of goals and Jacob Saad and Jeremy Ramm both scored 1 each all before half time. The Corvette's showed a big heart though and through some outstanding goalkeeping from Fynn Walker and determined defence, kept the Jaguars scoreless in the second half. Best for the Jaguars were Aydan Saad, Jeremy Ramm and Mikaela Clarke and best for the Corvette's were Fynn Walker, Lucy Fanning and Rosie Fanning. Final score Jaguars 5 Corvette's 0
3rd Finals
Vipers 3rd v 4th Cobras
What a great day Majors Creek turned on for us all. ....the new goals looked a treat. Shame as a club we are forced to spend so much because of insurance compliance when they could have been made locally much cheaper. Room here for political parties to campaign on.
Back to the football.
Vipers kicked off and dominated from the start, Harry Jeffries and Andrew Barr of the Cobras did a great job holding back the onslaught in the first half. In the second half Harry Shoemark led by example for the Vipers passing the ball on numerous occasions creating scoring opportunities for his team members. The Vipers showed today they can go all the way in the finals with an emphatic win.
Best players, (Cobras Harry Jeffrey 3, Andrew Barr2, Ned Jeffrey, Vipers Harry Shoemark3, Forbes Gordan2, Issac Quattriamoni 1)
Final Score Vipers 4 Cobras 0
SUB-YOUTH
Kewell's v Cahill's
Kewell's and Cahill's Congratulations!! Best game of the year!!Great defence and fantastic tackling from both teams saw the game ebb and flow. The Kewell's managed 3 goals with Pat Willding scoring twice and Mitchell Roberts once and the Cahill's replied with 3 as well with Angus Sherriff scoring twice and Ryan Smithers once. Both teams never gave up and either side could have one this game but neither side could find the winning goal. Best for the Kewell's were Ella Gordon, Brooke Clarke and Mitchell Roberts and best for the Cahill's were Angus Sherriff, Dominic Morris and Elizabeth Krijnen. Final score Kewell's 3 Cahill's 3
Beckham's v Rooney's
A great game with plenty of teamwork from both teams. A long range shot from a free kick by Forbes Corby put the Beckham's in the lead followed shortly after by another goal to Scott Birkett and the Beckham's led 2-0 at halftime. The Rooney's played the better football in the second half but only the last line of defence saved the Beckham's as the Rooney's only scored the 1 goal by Angus Bunn. Fynn Walker played up a division for the Rooney's and had a great game! Best for the Beckham's were Francesca Gordon, Anzac Huria and Simon DeCosta and best for the Rooney's were Tim Corcoran, Charlotte Horan and Angus Bunn. Final score Beckham's 2 Rooney's 1
YOUTH
Pumas v Nikes
Both teams were short players but the Nike's suffered the most with a Puma onslaught that was relentless. The hapless Nike's unfortunately had no answers to the Pumas attack which shared the goals around with Max, Alex Royds, Emily Malone, Helen DeCosta, Alex Stachcow and Troy Harrison all scoring 1 goal. The Nikes got a consolation goal by young Pat Willding. Best for the Pumas were Emily Malone, Kaitlyn Harrison and Helen DeCosta and best for the Nikes were Josh Liversidge, Michael Engemann, Kristy Kuhn. Final score Pumas 6 Nike's 1
Slazengers v Addidas'
The Slazengers were hit hard by both absence and injury and with a lacklustre defensive effort found themselves down 5-0 at halftime after the Addidas' Lonny Syphers, Nathan Oldfield, Jess Willding Rhys Faichney and Jonathon Bowler each scoring 1 goall. A resurgent Slazenger's team in the second half saw them get back a goal to Brendan Clarke and keep the score to 1-1. Best for the Slazenger's were Amy Cowan, Brendan Clarke and Kate Goodwin and best for the Addidas' were Sam Harrison, Zac Faichney and Jonathon Bowler.
Final score Addida's 6 Slazenger's 1
