Soccer reports - Round 11

04 Aug, 2010 05:00 AM
A mild morning greeted the round 11 action in the Braidwood soccer competitions with some very entertaining games played. There were plenty of goals as most teams are developing a great understanding with each other and playing some attractive football which equals exciting viewing.

Thanks to our young referee's who are doing a great job and are displaying a good knowledge of the game which will help our younger players develop and understand the game better. Well done to everyone!

The roster for the canteen for this week is 8:45 George Story, 9:20 Melissa Shoemark, 9:45 Leanne Ezzy, 10:20 Ruth Pettit, 10:45 Veronica McClure, 11:20 Joanne De Costa, 11:45 Lorraine Roberts.

The BBQ Roster is 8:45 Hugh Krijnen, 9:45 Craig Pettit and field setup is George Sherriff and Wayne Fanning and pack down is Ken Harrison and Nathan Oldfield. Please organise a replacement for your shift if you can't make yours this week.

Sub-Juniors

The Subbies are having plenty of fun on the mini field and it's great to see the younger girls enjoying the game at the end of the session. After some enthusiastic drills and shooting practice the games began with everyone playing well. The Greens and Blues played an exciting game that went from end to end with a lot of shots on goal. Good games had by Daisy Millpark, Romany Gleeson, Max Morris, Millie Potter and Archie McMurtrie for the Blues and Annabelle Gray, Jai Bunn, Scarlett and Hope Bunn and Claire for the Greens. The game between the Reds and Blacks was fast and furious with both teams scoring plenty of goals the Reds Isabella Hindmarsh was full of energy and had a great game as did Leroy Campbell-Davys and Regan Hindmarsh. The Blacks Hugh Lyons and Nathan Hindmarsh had good games and had plenty of help from both Brodie and Josh Parsons.

Juniors

Tadpoles v Joeys

A strong game in both attack and defence for these 2 evenly matched teams. The shots on goal were about even for both teams but the difference on the day was an outstanding effort from the Joeys Thomas Barrington who slotted in four great goals. Best for the Joeys were Zali Liversidge, Kody Mackay and Louise Story and best for the Tadpoles were Gus Munnings, Lachlan Hindmarsh and Georgia Crisp.

Final score Joeys 4 Tadpoles 0

Brumbies v Cubs

A top game between these two teams who left nothing to chance for the entire game. Well done to Zoe Cargill who filled in for the Cubs from the Brumbies and scored their goal but Ryan Castle scored twice to give the Brumbies the win. Best for the Brumbies were Ryan Castle, Johnno Coe and Georgia Grant and best for the Cubs were Zoe Cargill Lachlan Usher and Jasmine Potter.

Final score Brumbies 2 Cubs 1

Intermediates

Monaro's v Mustangs

The Monaro's played well as a team showing some nice passing moves throughout the game and some of the Monaro's Kanga Cup experience outclassed the Mustangs who are definitely improving and are hungry for a win. Look out next week Cobras! Best for the Monaro's were Adrian Holcman, Josh Story and Edward Horan and best for the Mustangs were Lewis Munnings, Shannon Castle and Georgia Garcia.

Final score Monaro's 3 Mustangs 0

Vipers v Corvettes

The Corvettes played an outstanding defensive game and never gave up with Fynn Walker, Izak Hilhorst and Lucy Fanning giving terrific performances. The rewards of training is starting to show for the Vipers goal scorers, so parents please encourage your kids to attend training on Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 - 4:30pm. Best for the Vipers were Isaac Quattromini, Thomas Barrington and Darcy Gordon and best for the Corvettes were Fynn Walker, Izak Hilhorst and Lucy Fanning.

Final score Vipers 5 Corvettes 0

Jaguars v Cobras

A gruelling game on a soggy field with lots of running and plenty of passing. The teamwork shown by both sides was brilliant at ties but the Jaguars took advantage of more chances on goal. Best for the Jaguars were Jacob Saad, Emily Lavis and Brock McAdam and best for the Cobra's were Andrew Barr, Harry Jeffery and Ned Jeffery.

Final score Jaguars 4 Cobras 1

Sub-Youth

Rooney's v Beckham's

This was a hard fought contest between two even teams and the score was unchanged into the break at 0-0. The Rooney's scored 2 quick goals in the second half to gain the ascendancy and held on with some solid defence. Best for the Rooney's were Nika Cuervas, Courtney Doyle and Angus Bunn and best for the Beckham's were Riley Sheridan, Anzac Huria and Kristina Holcman.

Final score Rooney's 2 Beckham's 0

Cahill's V Kewell's

This game was very exciting and unlucky for the Kewell's who despite going down 2-0 early in the second half almost claw their way back into the game with some outstanding football. The Defence of the Cahill's got them the win in the end as they held on to the final whistle. Best for Cahill's were Jack Asimus, Matthew Faulkner and Edmund Morris and best for the Kewell's were Catherine McDougall, Thomas Roberts and Joel Clarke.

Final score Cahill's 2 Kewell's 1

Youth

Adidas' v Slazenger's

This was a game of 2 halves with Adidas taking control of the midfield early and slotting in 2 nice goals. The Second half was a different story as the Slazenger's showed good character to come close to taking a point out of the game after displaying some grit and determination and unfortunately a bit of bad luck not to get the draw. Best for Adidas' were Clemont', Keely Howard and Sam Harrison and best for the Slazenger's were Jacob Camilleri, Matt Barr and Kaylah Jullienne.

Final score Adidas' 2 Slazenger's 1

Pumas v Nike's

The Pumas displayed some intelligent football as they dominated the midfield and the game early on. The Nike's confidence slipped throughout the game as they squandered most of the chances they created in front of goal. The positive for them to take out of the game is that they created plenty of chances. Best for the Pumas were Alex Royds, Emily Malone and Troy Harrison and best for the Nike's were Liam McClure, Josh Liversidge and Matilda Corby.

Final score Pumas 4 Nike's 1
