The first day of Spring saw the round 15 action heating up with the first of the Intermediates Final series kicking off! All the games in each division were close as team rosters are starting to get back to normal after a lot of illness in the past 4 weeks. It was nice to sit back and watch the first game as Aaron Clarke, Nick Fry and Anthony Stanley all were keen to get on the field to referee! Thanks to Dylan Crisp and Zach Collins who helped referee the Juniors also!
SUB-JUNIORS
We had a small but enthusiastic group of Sub-Juniors this week and Tyler Croxon Morgan Staunton Abbey Hewitt and Brooke Rowley all scored goals! Due to the small number of wonderful children players Lara, Cathy and Darren had to play to make up numbers. A great game and a lot of fun was had by all.
JUNIORS
Yugioh v Dragonball Z
This was the clash between the competition leaders and Yugioh were looking to take maximum points to draw level with Dragonball Z on the top of the ladder. Dragonball Z had a tough game defensively due to being a few players down but some how they seemed to be able to keep Yugioh from scoring. Eventually though the amount of attacking possession that Yugioh had was converted into a well constructed goal to take them into the break at 1-0 up. Dragonball Z came out in the second half and were more determined than ever to get back into the game and Mitchell Roberts got them back on track with a nice goal. The game got very exciting with both teams creating plenty of chances with neither side taking full advantage of their good teamwork. In the end the game could have gone either way but Dragonball Z managed to score a late winner to get full points. Best for Dragonball Z were Michaela Clarke Alex Rush and Tyrone Henman and best for Yugioh were Joel Croxon Sam Daniher and Harry Shoemark. Final score Dragonball Z 2 Yugioh 1
Digemon v Pokemon
Digemon have been picking up a few points lately with some great teamwork and looked dominate from the outset against Pokemon. As hard as Pokemon tried in defence the Digemon attack seemed to have all the answers and Josh story collect 2 goals to his tally for the season and Charlotte Horan and Tom Cairns each scored 1 goal to seal the win. Best for Digemon were Josh Story Tom Cairns and Izak Hilhorst and best for Pokemon were Kassey Liversidge Archer Rea and Kara Laney. Final score Digemon 4 Pokemon 0
INTERMEDIATES FINAL SERIES WEEK 1
1st Sharks v 6th Barracudas
The Barracudas have not had much luck all year and were out to make something of their finals campaign but the Sharks were undefeated in the regular season and weren't going to let this one slip if they could help it. The Barracudas kept themselves in the game with a crowded defensive style that was putting the Sharks attack off and frustration was starting to creep into their game a little. But the class of Justin Stubbs shone through in the later stages of the game scoring twice to seal the victory! Best for the Sharks were Justin Stubbs Angus Bunn and Natasha Liversidge and best for the Barracudas were Pip Sherriff Matt Barr and Mitchell Clarke. Final score Sharks 2 Barracudas 0
2nd Piranhas v 5th Stingrays
The Piranhas were coming into the finals with their best win of the season last week and were looking to put the Stingrays through the wringer and storm into next weeks preliminary final. However the beauty of finals football is expect the unexpected! The Stingrays stung the Piranhas defence early with Josh Daniher slotting in a nice goal to get his team in front and the Piranhas were looking a little flat in attack. The Mighty Midget Midfield of the Stingrays were making the Piranhas look like they had finished 5th in the comp with some strong tackling and nice teamwork but the scores were levelled with a well finished goal to Patrick Willding. The game was heading for extra time when a hand ball in the goal square gave the Stingrays the opportunity to wrap up the first upset and Tom Daniher slammed the ball into the bottom left hand corner to give his team a great win. Best for the Stingrays were Elizabeth Etcell Chloe Stuart-Camenzuli and Thomas Roberts and best for the Piranhas were Forbes Corby Tahnee Smithers and Patrick Willding. Final score Stingrays 2 Piranhas 1
3rd Eels v 4th Marlins
This game was extremely close with both teams defending stoutly for the majority of the game. Both teams had some close misses and the game was heading for extra time until some individual brilliance from Dylan Crisp very late in the second half saw the Eels skip away with a very unconvincing win. Best for the Eels were Keely Howard Ben Howard and Dylan Crisp and best for the Marlins were Sophie Richards Edmund Morris and Brooke O'Connell. Final score Eels 2 Marlins 0

SENIORS
Asteroids v Fireballs
The last meeting of these 2 teams saw an entertaining match from start to finish and this match was no different. The Fireballs were a little flat in the first 20 minutes and paid the penalty when some pedestrian defence saw Josh Stubbs kick the Asteroids into the lead. However the intensity of the Fireballs game lifted and they were rewarded with a well struck ball from Pat Martin flying into the back of the net from a diving Kaitlyn Harrison in goal. The second half was end to end stuff with some outstanding defending from both teams keeping the score the same as at half time. Best for the Asteroids were Jason Nucifora Jonathon Crisp and Jacob Camilleri and best for the Fireballs were Chris Corcoran Tamara Roberts and Alex Royds. Final score Asteroids 1 Fireballs 1
Meteors v Comets
This game was very entertaining with both teams creating some good passages of play with some nice passing. Although the score was 0-0 at halftime the game was ready to explode in the second half and explode it did! First off Harley Williams put a well finished move into the back of the net to give the Comets a nice lead and they could have increased their lead if they were a little more accurate in front of goal. Things were looking good for the Comets as time ticked away and with the Meteors not creating much of a threat on the Comets goal. The Meteors finally started to play more as a team and before they knew it they had scored and were looking like they had control of the game. The Comets were running out of steam as the Meteors managed to score a late winner and take away the 3 points. Best for the Meteors were Tashi Wood-Ward Beth McAllister and Molly Northcott and best for the Comets were Claydon Williams Ben Wlasak and Tom Willding. Final score Meteors 2 Comets 1
ALL AGE
A great game between the White and Blues saw 11 goals and plenty of missed chances as well. The Whites skipped away to a 4-1 lead at half time and were playing some nice controlled football as the Blues were struggling in defence. The Blues came out firing and managed to get the game back to 4-3 early in the second half but the Whites managed to consolidate their lead and ran out comfortable winners in the end 7-4.
