Finally after weeks on the road the Braidwood Redbacks got a home game. On a beautiful day for rugby a great crowd saw Braidwood take on a spirited Narooma team.
In the run into the finals the Redbacks have to keep winning in order to keep their dream of a home final alive. The coaching team wanted 80 minutes of effort and structured play between forwards and backs, and no one was disappointed.
The backs got quality ball straight away and Brendan unleashed his backline who in turn perfectly executed their well rehearsed moves. 2 tries to Tim, Nadin, and Reece and 3 tries to Adam showed how dominant the backline was for the entire game. The forwards did score in a brilliant line out move, and Steve Northcott, (actually it was James Royds) washed over for a great try. Final score 60 – 3.
A great running game. The perfect start going into the final 3 weeks. Next week a huge game down in Bega.
Our points went to 3 Brendan, 2 Adam, 1 Tim, players player Haggis ( who was allegedly 21.)
The mid season dinner was held on Saturday night and a brilliant night was had by all, at our major sponsor the Royal Mail Hotel. Thank you Ralph and Bruce for a wonderful lamb on the spit and Amy for all the salads.
The night also saw the auction of the John Eales signed and framed jersey and photo. The bidding was intense with auctioneer Captain Coe receiving on-the-job training from Bryce. The lucky winner of the jersey was Denise McMurtrie, and Peter Coble took home the signed photo.
Congratulations to Mr Cook for winning the wood raffle.
Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters throughout the year.
