SOCCER REPORT
The beginning of the 2006 season was greeted with a beautiful day. It was great to see some new faces amongst the crowd and with over 200 registered players ranging from 3 to 18 we were in for a busy morning.
SUBJUNIORS
I would like to thank Brian Daniher for taking the subbies for their first run and from a distance there seemed to be plenty of the 3-5 year olds for the beginning of the season.
Congratulations to Sam Daniher who kicked the first two goals of the season for the subjuniors. A large group of 3-5 year olds enthusiastically trained and played for 45minutes in the brisk Winter sun. Despite held balls, goals being kicked into the other teams posts and children running over lines almost to the creek, fun was had by all. Well done to the coaches, Brian and Jamie, who patiently taught skills by being aeorplanes and kangaroos.
JUNIORS
LIONS v TIGERS
A very consistant performance from the Lions with 2 goals in the first half and 2 in the second half. A real team effort with goalscorers Wyll Holland, Lochlan Ramm, Tim Corcoran and Harrison Fry all finding the net in their first game of the year. Lucy Fanning, Jack Asimus, Toby Royds, Emily Lavis and Cameron Pont all played well for the Lions as well. The Tigers never gave up and consistently pestered the Lions defence but the Lions put their chances away for a comfortable win. Best for the Tigers were Forbes Corby, Christopher Donkin- Lennon and Riley Hewitt. Best for the Lions were Wyll Holland, Lachlan Ramm and Harry Fry. Final score Lions 4 Tigers 0
PUMAS v LEOPARDS
The Leopards had a full team and helped the Pumas with a couple of players as they were down a few for the first game of the year. Thanks to Matthew Faulkner and Brittney Walsh for playing with the Pumas. A great game with plenty of running from both sides. The defence of Joel Clarke and Mitchell Roberts was outstanding at times and Ben Howard and Brittney Wlash had good games in goal. The Pumas took the lead just before half time and the Loepards were unlucky not to get an equaliser soon after. Great games from Charlotte Horan, Josh Story, Anjali and Georgie Williams, Conner Walsh, Kelly Liversidge, Edward Horan and Charlie McLean for the Leopards and the Pumas Samantha Davis, Marnie Roberts Ryan Smithers Joel Croxon Ben Merriman and Abbie and Jai Coleman all had good games. Best for the Pumas were Muqri Mohamod-Tautik Joel Clarke and Samantha Davis. Best for the Leopards were Ben Howard Charlotte Horan and Mitchell Roberts. Final score Pumas 1 Leopards 0
INTERMEDIATES
TROJANS v TITANS
A very close contest between these teams with limited chances on goal. Both sides showed some good skills considering it was the first game of the season and both goalkeepers made some good saves. The Titans Janaya Faichney managed to break the dead lock with a great goal and time finally ran out for the Trojans to equalise. Best for the Titans were Will Richards Cheyenne Whitmore and Julia Brown. Best for the Trojans were Miles Grant Cameron Bradley and Tahnee Smithers Final score Titans 1 Trojans 0
CYCLOPS v GORGONS
This was a great game with the Cyclops making a great start and Josh Liversidge opening the scoring about half way through the first half. A see-sawing game came after the goal as both teams created chances and the score was 1-0 at half time. The Cyclops started the second half confidently with another goal to Rachel Willard and things were looking good for the Cyclops. The game then took a quick turn with the Gorgons coming to life and making the most of some good field position and scored 2 quick goals to level the score. They were then unlucky not to get another goal towards the end of the game but the Cyclops held on for a draw. Best for the Cyclops were Kahlah Jullienne Josh Liversidge and Jason Nucifora. Best for the Gorgons were Ellyse Sharp Troy Mundy and Tamika Murphy. Final score Cyclops 2 Gorgons 2
MINOTAURS v ARGONAUTS
A great opening game for both teams and the final scoreline is a little flattering for the Argonauts however they managed to score in both halves. The Minotaurs wereunlucky not to get at least 1 goal as they toiled hard for most of the game. Best for the Minotaurs were Makayra McAllister Brianna Pont and Dylan Crisp. Bets for the Argonauts
were Kate Goodwin Matilda Corby and Molly Northcott. Final score Argonauts 2 Minotaurs 0
SENIORS
MASH v F-TROOP
This was a very open game with the difference possibly being the great game by the Mash Goalkeeper Kris Anderson. The F-Troop created plenty of chances but they could get passed Kris at all. Two lucky goals for the Mash in the first 15 minutes before the F-Troop started creating some good chances however Mash finished the game with a well created goal in the dying seconds. Best for the Mash were Kris Anderson Jared Hodgson and Kaylie Newell. Best for the F-Troop were Matt Dwyer Alec Kelly and Zac Faichney. Final score Mash 3 F-Troop 0
DAD's ARMY v HOGAN'S HEROES
There were plenty of goals in this game with defence thrown out the window. Hogan's Heroes made the most of their chances with some outstanding goals to Jake Williams. Adam Corcoran also scored for the HH as Daniel Ison and Harley Williams were the scorers for the Dad's Army. Best for the Hogan's Heroes were Jaye Coble Jake Williams and Charlotte McClure. Best for Dad's Army were Harley Williams Leith Collard and Chris Corcoran. Final score Hogan's Heroes 5 Dad's Army 2.
