Bears brought down by Boomanulla

30 Jul, 2008 10:42 AM
Boomanulla led 20-18 at half time and ran in 8 tries to the Bears 4. Boomanulla were had one of their forwards sent off halfway through the second half for a head high. Captain Marty Edwards said the game was like playing in the 90s when there wasn't as much emphasis on high tackling.

Highlights of the game: Biggsey`s great match from fullback. He picked up the Len mutton & Co Players Player Award. He was in the game from the start, making great kick returns, taking the ball up in every set of six and defending strongly in the defensive line. Big Steve Clarke also relished in the tough conditions around the ruck. He charged into the defensive line fearlessly in attack, many times twice in a set of six and picked up the Players Player 2nd Award. Danny White deservedly earned the Coaches Award. The Boomanulla defence found it impossible to put the big fella down when he took on the defence. Glenn Beckmann's bullock-like charges into Boomanulla`s defence brought the crowd to their feet.

Lowlights of the match was probably the Bears outside defence which let in 6 of the Raiders tries.

Next Saturday the Bears take on Southwest Brahmans at Harden at 2.30 and will be strengthened with the return of utility Adam Hacker.

Arthur Smith won Proths 'PICK-A-BEAR' when Wayne Crisp stepped through to score the Bears first points. Thank you to those who supported. Also thanks again for the Braidwood Butchery's generous donation of top class meat for the after match Bar-B-Que at the Club and to GAME DAY Sponsors Fiona, Ling and staff at Len Mutton & Co your support is very much appreciated.
