The Bears played their best footy -particularly in the second half -and with only 5 minutes to go with a scoreline of 20-14 it was anybodies game. Exchange ran the ball on the 5th tackle, and scored wide out to get the hard fought win.
Game Day sponsor R.J. Nomchongs Electrics Players Player Award was shared by Shawn Heycox and Cameron-Pig- Guihot. Shawn had an absolute blinder from fullback constantly looking for work in attack and defended well. Pig never stopped for 70 minutes playing well above his weight. Eddie Nomchong would be proud of both these boys on winning his award. Jason Kolber turned in another solid game in the centres and picked up the coaches Award. The Bears attention now turns to West Belconnen who are win-less against the Bears to date in the George Tooke Shield. They play next Sunday at 12pm at the West Belconnen Leagues Club in what should be a top game.
Proth's Pick-a-Bears kicks off again with the West Belconnen game and the jackpot stands at $780.00.
The Bruce Stuart Building Scoreboard Exchange 24 Bears 14 (Jason Hudson 1 try, Steve Clarke1, Pig Guihot1, Rowdy Augustin 1 conversion).
