Breathtaking revision

24 Sep, 2009 12:45 PM
The gall of Mike Kelly, Member for Eden- Monaro, Steve Whan, Member for Monaro, and Matt Brown, Member for Kiama, pretending that the upgrading of Main Road 92 (Braidwood Times 16 September) is due to the Rees and Rudd Governments is breathtaking.

They had, or course, absolutely nothing to do with it. Work on the road began long before Rudd and Rees came to power.

The Howard Government took the initiative some 6-8 years ago to declare MR92 ‘a road of national importance’, and committed the money. It then took another 2-3 years to persuade the then NSW Labor Government to contribute their share.

Next it will be claimed that the massive upgrading of the Hume Highway in the South West id due to Rudd, who obviously had nothing to do with it.

Members of the Rudd Government can’t bring themselves to acknowledge any achievement of the Howard Government. If these people gave credit where it is due, they would command a little more respect.
