The golf year is almost over and the books have been confiscated for auditing to ensure all scores are legitimate and the prizes awarded this Saturday night at the presentation dinner are beyond reproach. Hence, some recent results are unconfirmed.

This Friday is the club’s first Nine ‘n’ Dine and if you intend joining in the fun please confirm your intention by contacting the club. This Saturday is the annual dinner and again the club needs to know if you will attend to ensure catering is up to scratch.
Rumour has it that Will Richards shot 71 last Saturday and Murray Smith won the Medal of Medals the previous week. What is not a rumour is that Don Burke won another event. He combined with Alec Henry to win the doubles knockout final against the Nerriga pair of Keith Ferguson and Steve Cansell.
Jackie Clark and Frank Williams won the mixed doubles knockout final against Di Freeman and Mike Fitzgerald, and as reported last week, Peter Warne won the singles knockout. Congratulations to all the winners and also acknowledgement to all those who entered these competitions.
A couple of weeks ago I received a gift of a little book of golf quotes. The book is dedicated to those who believe that golf is like a love affair….If you don’t take it too seriously it’s no fun, and if you do take it seriously it breaks your heart.
So here is a selection: I don’t say my golf is bad; but if I grew tomatoes they’d come up sliced (Miller Barber). If a lot of people gripped a knife and fork like they do a golf club, they’d starve to death (Sam Snead). In golf as in life it’s the follow through that makes the difference. Golf is an ideal diversion, but a ruinous disease (B.C. Forbes) and finally, any game where a man or woman of 60 can beat a thirty year old ain’t no game (Burt Shotten).
Don’t forget the Nine ‘n’ Dine on Friday, the dinner on Saturday and the AGM the following Saturday.
