Energetic team gives back to community

Multiple community groups in Braidwood are set to benefit from the hard work of the local Essential Energy team who have twice taken out line honours in a company-wide competition, called the Depot Challenge Cup.

The team at the Braidwood Depot have been congratulated for winning the competition that measures performance in areas such as operations, safety and customer service.

The crew placed first in two consecutive quarters taking out the small division category and beating 33 teams from across the Essential Energy footprint, which covers more than 95 per cent of NSW.

Regional general manager South Eastern, Phillip Green, praised the efforts of the team.

“Results like this don’t come easy and I know that the crew from Braidwood has put in a lot of work to improve performance across a number of areas critical to business operations and service to the community,” Phillip said.

“When it comes to providing an essential service, critical to our communities, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, they have delivered across the board.”

For their commitment to improving service, safety and performance, the team from Braidwood was given the opportunity to donate $6,000 to local community groups.

“The great thing about the Depot Challenge Cup is that it motivates every single employee in the depot to work to better their performance while at the same time providing them with a big incentive – the chance to give back to the local communities in which they live and work,” Phillip said.

The local team in Braidwood has chosen a number of beneficiaries for the Depot Challenge Cup winnings, including Braidwood Preschool, St Bede’s Primary School, Braidwood Central School, and Braidwood Rugby Club.

Resource Supervisor, Michael Toirkens, said, “These groups were chosen because of the important role each plays in the development of young people in Braidwood.”

Principal of St Bede’s Primary School Gerard Galvin thanked the team and congratulated it on the win.

“This donation will be used to help purchase new sporting equipment for the school,” he said. “We very much appreciate the contribution from Essential Energy.”
