'These tragedies must end': Obama speaks at shooting memorial

US President Barack Obama has vowed to use the powers of his office to work to prevent a repeat of the deadly Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings, which claimed the lives of 28 people, including 20 children.

The President met with first responders and families who lost loved ones and spoke at an evening service at Newtown High School, not far from the school where tragedy unfolded last Friday.
