The Palerang bush fire, burning in the area 13 kilometres east of Bungendore near the Kings Highway, is bring controlled by firefighters.
The fire is burning in the area between Bungendore and Braidwood.
It has been downgraded to an "advice" alert level thanks to the cooler weather and the efforts of firefighters.
The Kings Highway remains closed at Braidwood intersection and at Bungendore. Authorities have asked people not to travel along the Kings Highway.
An employee at the Braidwood newsagency has told Fairfax Media, the fire isn't really affecting the operation of the town and he believes it to be a "good half hour away".
He also said there was a "fair bit" of RFS activity.
The RFS suggests you:
* Monitor conditions in your area.
* Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan.
* If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
