Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has developed a draft Tree Management Plan as part of RMS' ongoing community engagement about roadside hazards on the Kings Highway at Braidwood and follows a workshop held in Braidwood on 24 July 2012. RMS has worked with Palerang Council and Corkery Consulting to prepare this draft plan for the avenues of trees on the Kings Highway at Braidwood which is now available for your comment. A copy and more information about the draft Tree Management Plan can be found on the RMS project website at

Generating new golden poplars from existing trees for replanting is just one option being considered as part of the draft Plan. RMS will be taking cuttings from the existing golden poplar trees on the northern approach to Braidwood on the Kings Highway. Although options have not yet been decided, February is the key time to take cuttings from golden poplars and RMS does not want to miss the opportunity should the cuttings be required at a later stage.
Last week at our ‘Drop in’ session, we spoke with people about the plan and the variety of long term options being considered.
The ‘Project documents’ section of the web site has a copy of the material displayed at the ‘Drop in’ session and the feedback form that was provided.
