I’m writing to request that you reconsider your decision to close the Braidwood truck wash
This truck wash services not only the local trucks of which there are approximately 25 but the trucks that bring stock in and out of this district.
This I might add is not confined to sale days but is ongoing.
Clean trucks are paramount to the movement of livestock not only from the obvious animal welfare issue.
Bio security is a factor that has not been considered in your decision as clean trucks help stop the spread of ojd / bjd and foot rot.
There was a plan drawn up two years ago to move the truck wash to the sale yards and use the existing effluent controls at the sale yards.
This plan made a lot of sense as the council had issues with compaction in the sale yard tanks due to the lack of water running in and the truck wash would have alleviated that.
Under the old Tallaganda shire there was a levy placed on the sale yard users called an enviro levy.
That levy was ear marked to be used for any environmental issues that arose at the sale yards.
At the time of amalgamation there was from memory some $100,000 in the sale yards environment account
The money from this account was then moved into consolidated revenue, the account was called the sale yards maintenance levy and the starting balance was brought back to zero.
Could you please give this mater due consideration and I can be contacted me if any further details are required.
