Braidwood Community Bank and the Veolia Mulwaree Trust have joined with local Braidwood sponsors to fund the resurfacing of two of the four tennis courts at the Rec Ground.

Member and friends of Braidwood Tennis Club attended the official opening of the newly resurfaced tennis courts on Sunday. Two of the four courts now have artificial grass with sand covering
Braidwood Community Bank contributed $25,000 and Veolia Mulwaree Trust $24,385 towards the project, with main sponsors Braidwood Apex, Braidwood Lions, Lodge of Truth and Essential Energy-Braidwood Depot contributed $8,000 towards the project.
The court surfaces were badly cracked and uneven before the resurfacing.
Mrs Mary Mathais from the Community Bank said it was “especially good to see so many younger players at the launch.”
Representing the Veolia Mulwaree Trust Mr Paul Stephenson said he was pleased to have been invited to the opening.
The rain held off and the courts were full of members and friends trying out the new surface, and enjoying the bbq lunch.
Braidwood Tennis Club holds spring and autumn evening tennis competitions and the courts are also available for hire.
