The town plan was actually gazetted on 24th April 1839 and Sunday the 27th seemed an appropriate day to celebrate this auspicious occasion. Organiser of the foundation day event Bronwyn Richards said she hoped that the day would become an annual event in the heritage celebration and encourage people to get out in the autumn weather and enjoy our historic park.
The day will commence with a Welcome to the Country with Uncle Max Harrison at followed by a blessing by the Rev Canon Gill Varcoe.
The Mayor of Palerang will then unveil of the new paved walkway from the Royal Mail Hotel corner to the centre of park, laid with pavers engraved with names of past and current residents and organisations. This tangible reminder of our anniversary year is being laid by Council this week.
After a family picnic, just after noon, a guided group walk to Braidwood Wilson's grave on top of Wilson’s Hill is planned.
